Error Update iOS 11

With iOS 11 and later, if there isn't enough space to download and install an update, your device will try to make space. It will remove parts of apps that it can download again. This makes space without having to remove or relocate any of your content. If your device still doesn't have enough space, you can use iTunes to update your device.

Check your storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If your iOS device storage is almost full, go to Settings to see how much storage you've used.

Use your iOS device to check its storage

Tap Settings > General > Storage >iCloud Usage > Manage Storage.

You'll see a list of your apps, and how much storage each one uses. Tap an app for more detailed information about its usage.

Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of its content, or delete the app and all of its content. If your device is almost full, or you get a Storage Almost Full alert, remove some less-used content.

Use iTunes to check the storage on your iOS device
  1. Open iTunes on your computer.
  2. Connect your device to your computer.
  3. In iTunes, select your device. You'll see a bar that shows how much storage your iOS content uses, divided by content type.

Hover your mouse over a content type, like Other or Apps, to find more information:

Here is a list of the types of content on your iOS device, and what each type includes:
  • Audio: Songs, audio podcasts, audiobooks, voice memos, and ringtones
  • Video: Movies, music videos, and TV shows
  • Photos: Camera Roll content, Photo Stream, and Photo Library
  • Apps: Installed apps
  • iBooks: iBooks books and PDF files
  • iMessage
  • Documents & Data: Safari Offline Reading List, files created within apps, and app content like contacts, calendars, messages, and emails (and their attachments)
  • Other: Settings, Siri voices, system data, and cached files
Apple still has 3 months before the final iOS 11 release this fall. I hope they take this time to iterate on the new features, adding polish and fixes wherever necessary.

1. Control Center Design

The new Control Center in iOS 11 is a welcome change. A return to one page should help curb confusion. Apple is even letting users add extra controls. But right now, Control Center has some major design issues.

To start out, Control Center doesn’t look as polished as it did in iOS 10. That is fine. It’s actually refreshing to see Apple prioritize function over form. But there are readability and iconography problems. For example, the user needs to 3D Touch the Now Playing tile to bring up the option to change audio outputs. And even then, its hard to read the text. The icons for some controls, especially accessibility ones aren’t obvious. Apple needs to tweak them before release so users aren’t confused.

2. 3D Touch App Switcher

Right now, the 3D Touch App Switcher gesture isn’t available in iOS 11. You can no longer 3D Touch the left edge of the screen to bring up App Switcher or to go to the most recent app. While this might not be used by everyone, it is a useful feature, especially on the Plus models. We hope Apple brings it back before the fall release.

3. OS Wide Drag and Drop on iPhone

Drag and Drop is one of the biggest features in iOS 11. It’s going to change how we work on the iPad. While Apple hasn’t publicized it, drag and drop does work inside apps like Files on the iPhone.

And now, developers have found the code that enables it on the iPhone. All I hope is that Apple can figure out how to make it run well on the iPhone before the iOS 11 release and it’s not pushed to iOS 12 after iOS 11 Drag and Drop iPhone

An inter-app drag and drop feature on the iPhone would be really helpful. And it would negate the need for share extensions. Just select stuff from one app, hold it with one finger, use another hand to open a different app, release the finger to drop the files. It’s natural and intuitive.

4. Unified Notification Center Mess

Here’s what they’ve done. In iOS 11, both the Lock screen and Notification Center are the same thing. When you swipe down the Notification Center, you’re essentially bringing down the Lock Screen on top of whatever you’re doing. Right now, it even has the “Press Home to Unlock” text in the bottom. You can even swipe left to open the Camera.

When I first heard about Unified Notifications, I was happy to see Apple finally taking steps towards fixing the broken notification system in iOS. But after using the feature, I’m convinced that it’s a step backward. They’ve managed to make it worse somehow.

The Unified Notifications part is more confusing. Apple will show the current notifications when you swipe down. But if the notifications are older, say from the day before, you now need to swipe up once again, on both the Lock screen and the Notification Center, to view them. Plus, you can no longer swipe left on the notifications to reveal contextual buttons. You have to 3D Touch or long press on a notification. Maybe this is something we’ll get used to. Maybe not. I hope Apple takes some time to polish the UI for this new feature, at least making it more obvious how to view the earlier notifications.

5. UI Inconsistencies

As this is the first beta, there are small UI problems across the OS. The main being in the apps that have been redesigned. Podcasts app has a lot of alignment issues And in the new design language, Apple has added huge headers for app sections that don’t really belong there. Messages header in Messages app is the biggest culprit. The text itself takes up a lot of space, plus there’s wasted space around the text. Apple should iterate on this design to use less space and to make things tighter in general.

Error Message Update iOS 11

iOS 11 seems to be well received by iPhone and iPad users after its first unveil at Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC). The update brings plenty, both for the iPhone and iPad devices in the form of improvements in the UI, new features and some completely overhauled apps like the App Store. The iOS 11 also brings a smarter Siri (that is now combined with Spotlight Search) which is now deeply integrated into the native apps, allowing the assistant to help out and make suggestions in various places.

Update iOS 11
How to Update iOS 11

Everyone out there wants to get their hands on the latest version of iOS. But there’s a catch Update iOS 11

Interested users need to keep in mind that this is the first Developer beta. A Developer beta offers the raw experience and basically exists to give third-party app developers early access to the latest builds coming from Apple and can test out their apps on the new operating system.

With that, these developer builds come with plenty of bugs. These would include everything from random app crashes, odd-looking graphics that don’t get scaled right and even some more annoying ones like the non-functional auto-brightness feature. iPhonehacks has listed down most of the bugs in the first build and they are evident more on the iPhone than on the iPad.

So we would recommend you to wait until the first Public Beta arrives (in a month’s time), which would be more stable and a bit polished. If you simply cannot hold on, here’s how you can get on the first developer build of iOS 11.

Before Update iOS 11

One detail to note is that you would normally need a developer account or a UDID to get access to developer builds. The method we have laid down is similar to what Redmond Pie has on offer, one that uses a Configuration Profile.

A Configuration Profile simply tells Apple’s servers that you have a developer account and will download a developer software build for installation via an over-the-air (OTA) update. Once on a developer build your device will continue to receive developer beta updates going forward. You need to keep in mind that your device will not receive a public beta or a final consumer build even if they appear on consumer handsets and tablets.

In order to jump back to the consumer queue, you will have to flash the entire device and then pull off a restore using your older data which is why steps 1 and 2 are vital.

How to Update iOS 11

There are a few preparations that need to be done before you go ahead with this upgrade process follow this iOS 11 tutorial:

  1. You will have to back up your iPhone or iPad either to iCloud or locally on an authorized PC where you would have Apple’s iTunes software installed.
  2. Once you have backed up your device you will have to download the iOS 10.3.2 (or the current version of iOS that you are using) in a .IPSW format. You will get the links for these out here.
  3. You will need both of the above (IPSW restore and your personal backup) to restore your iPhone or iPad to the state that it was in before you applied the Developer Beta, in case you are dissatisfied with iOS 11.
  4. Open your Safari app and paste the iOS 11 download page thta conatin link to download the Configuration Profile to your device after which the system will prompt you to install the new software profile
  5. Tap Install and iOS will then prompt you to reboot the phone.
  6. Upon rebooting, open Settings, then head to General and tap on Software Update. In there you will find a prompt to Download and Install the new iOS 11 Developer beta.
  7. Tap on ‘Download and Install”, the device will then download the update ask for your device passcode and then reboot to the black install screen with the white Apple logo.
  8. Now all you have to do is wait patiently till the bar fills up and the iPhone or iPad restarts. (we would recommend placing your device in a ventilated environment as it can get hot during the installation process).

Enjoy your brand new iOS 11 software experience, but some people have an error while update to the latest iOS
